The Meštrović Atelier is a part of the Ivan Meštrović Museum together with the Kaštelet-Crikvina Meštrović Gallery in Split and the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Otavice. It is part of the legacy of the greatest Croatian sculptor of world renown, Ivan Meštrović.
The collection is housed in a family house where Meštrović lived from 1922 to 1942. The building was built in the 17th century and was adapted to a representative atelier and a family house. The artist donated to Croatia the building together with 300 stone sculptures, bronzes, wood and saddles, drawings, lithographs and pieces of furniture made according to his own designs.
In the Atelier there is a wealth of artist’s photo-documentation and personal archives, as well as works by other authors related to the work and life of Ivan Meštrović. The permanent exhibition is displayed in an authentic ambience, with the works of the sculptor, created until 1942.
